Scientific Paranormal Audio Data

The following contains audio clips picked up by our team on various investigations. Ratings are determined based on how likely the clip is paranormal. These extend between 0.1 (lowest) and 5.0 (highest). Higher ratings indicate a greater quality and likelihood of paranormal activity. Lower ratings indicate poor quality and ambiguity between natural and paranormal.

Please note that these individual pieces are collected here to showcase the differences in quality of audio evidence by separating them through a rating scale. The rating is presented by factors such as clarity, ambient noises, tone, pitch, and length. For more pieces of data, please see other cases conducted by going to our "Cases" section.

5.0-4.0 rating Audio Clips

Audio Clip - French Female Voice
Play Now
Investigation: Fort Ticonderoga
Date: 4/25/09
Rank: 4.9
Comments: This interesting EVP contains the voice of an unknown female which appears to be speaking in a French accent and the language is French. It may appear to say "ah il y a sa louche" (There is her ladle), or "ah il y a salissure", (There is a stain). Either case, this was an incredible find as no females were talking at that time and they do not know French. This clip has a high rating due to clarity, unique tone/pitch, and a reduced chance of being natural.

Audio Clip - Hicks
Play Now
Investigation: Shiloh Inn
Date: 6/8/08
Rank: 4.3
Comments: This EVP clip was taken in an attic of the Shiloh Inn when one of our investigators asked for a name. We can clearly hear an unidentified male voice that says the name Hicks, or perhaps calling our investigator a hick? Either case, this clip shows how loud an EVP can be without an investigator being aware until playback. There was only 1 investigator in this area.

Audio Clip - Please Go, Female
Play Now
Investigation: Shiloh Inn
Date: 6/8/08
Rank: 4.2
Comments: This EVP clip was also taken in the attic of the Shiloh Inn, and occurs directly after a camera click is heard. You can hear a female saying what may appear to be "Please Go". This occurs in the same area where a man can also be heard, giving us the impression of two distinct EVP voices in the same area. Another note is that there were no females present at this time.

Audio Clip - Tell Me
Play Now
Investigation: Maryland Ave Revisited
Date: 1/18/07
Rank: 4.1
Comments: This EVP was taken during a re-investigation of the Maryland Ave case. This clip contains a voice that is far different than the female investigator heard in the clip such as a higher tone and pitch. There were only two investigators present and no one with a voice that could produce this clip.

4.0-3.0 rating Audio Clips

Audio Clip - Goodbye
Play Now
Investigation: Olean NY Home
Date: 2/6/09
Rank: 3.8
Comments: This EVP contains the voice of an unidentified female saying the word "Goodbye". This EVP has a very loud and unique pitch that grants it a stronger rating, but as there were female investigators in that area and the tone matches slightly with another investigator, we cannot overlook this fact that it could be a modulation error on the audio device to produce this unique voice.

Audio Clip - Hi
Play Now
Investigation: Madison Barracks
Date: 4/18/08
Rank: 3.6
Comments: This interesting EVP, while low in volume, contains a long-drawn out word, possibly "Hi", seemingly female, and in response to when we asked if someone could make a noise. This can occur in intelligent types of paranormal activity. However, the quality is lower and not as clear as other clips.

Audio Clip - Daddy, Laugh
Play Now
Investigation: Groton Church
Date: 3/6/09
Rank: 3.5
Comments: This EVP contains a female voice that talks after investigators and clients speak that says the word "Daddy" and then appears to slowly laugh. Some key facts about this clip are that the voice is not likely to be a client or investigator, however we cannot overlook that there were multiple females here. In addition, the tone and placement of this word w/a laugh is not consistent to what an investigator or client would say.

Audio Clip - I'm OK
Play Now
Investigation: Fort Ticonderoga
Date: 4/25/09
Rank: 3.1
Comments: This EVP occurs towards the end while there were investigators in teh distance. A female is heard to say "I'm OK". This clip is presented because the pitch, tone, and placement is unusual and not likely to be an investigator. However, the low quality makes this difficult to give it a high rank.

3.0-2.0 rating Audio Clips

Audio Clip - Hello
Play Now
Investigation: Maryland Ave
Date: 11/28/07
Rank: 2.7
Comments: This EVP contains the voice of an unidentified young female, that appears to moan just once in the word of "Hello". Due to the low quality and ambiguity, it contains an average rating.

Audio Clip - No It's Not
Play Now
Investigation: Deep River Library
Date: 7/10/10
Rank: 2.5
Comments: This clip was taken in an area with two females and 1 male. When an investigator asks a question an unusual quick response says "No It's Not. The voice is seemingly unique with an unknown tone and seems to be in response the question. While it cannot be discerned if this is natural, what is more interesting, and why this clip wasn't dismissed, is that no one seems to respond to that response. It would be likely that if someone said "No It's Not" in relation to a question not directed at them that someone would follow up or explain themselves. Placement of an EVP in the context of a situation is also factored into investigations.

Audio Clip - I Love
Play Now
Investigation: Brookside Lane
Date: 3/1/08
Rank: 2.2
Comments: This audio clip contains the whisper/voice of a man which might contain the word hello, and then gets louder which then apparently may say "I Love", before it fades. The clip is difficult to discern between natural and ambiguous, and is also of low quality.

Audio Clip - Long Deep Whisper
Play Now
Investigation: Smith Ely Mansion
Date: 10/10/08
Rank: 2.0
Comments: This audio clip contains a very long deep whisper by apparently a man in the distance. This occurs directly after an investigator sees a shadow figure and attempts to debunk it. The breath is hard to make out what it is saying, but may say "He/She slashed...". The breath does not appear to be one of our investigators, and the context of the words appear to not be something that someone would say on an investigation.

2.0-1.0 rating Audio Clips

Audio Clip - Man's Whisper
Play Now
Investigation: Smith-Ely Mansion
Date: 10/10/08
Rank: 1.8
Comments: This audio clip may apparently whisper the words "Do You Have Permission" in an area that was believed to be a servant’s quarters. However, it is given a very low rating due to its ambiguity of if it was simply a distorted breathy sound of an investigator near the audio device or an actual audio anomaly.

Audio Clip - Two Female Moans
Play Now
Investigation: Maryland Ave
Date: 11/28/07
Rank: 1.5
Comments: This clip contains two low female moans as two males were investigating. There were no females present, however, the moans are very low and appear to talk on top of another investigator. It is far too distorted and contains too much ambiguity between natural and unnatural.

Audio Clip - Low Whisper
Play Now
Investigation: Madison Barracks
Date: 4/18/08
Rank: 1.4
Comments: This audio clip is found when it talks over other investigators as they are walking away from a statically placed audio recorder. The voice appears to be very low, and in a whisper. The context of this audio clip is unique, but there are too many other investigators in the area moving to be considered a clear EVP

Audio Clip - Low No Response
Play Now
Investigation: Buffalo NY Home
Date: 3/26/10
Rank: 1.1
Comments: This clip is heard extremely faintly at the end of this clip where a very brief "no" is heard. While somewhat unique, this clip is given a low rating due to the extreme low volume and non-clarity of it.

1.0 to "Debunked" rating Audio Clips

Audio Clip - Noise
Play Now
Investigation: Auburn NY Home
Date: 10/22/10
Rank: 0.8
Comments: During the investigation one unusual noise was captured. However, this noise sounded too mechanical or possibly from an outside area that was unaccounted for. Due to the high amount of ambiguity, this clip is given a near debunked rating.

Audio Clip - Knock
Play Now
Investigation: Ovid NY Home
Date: 2/12/10
Rank: 0.5
Comments: This audio clip appears to contain a faint knocking response to a question when it is asked to knock. However, knocking sounds are almost inevitably impossible to prove unless loud, consistent, and intelligent. In this case, the knock was once, very faint, and other contributing factors such as foundation settling and wind can play a role in this.

Audio Clip - Organ Music
Play Now
Investigation: Groton Church
Date: 3/6/09
Rank: 0.0 (Debunked)
Comments: This debunked audio music is presented as a claim was that music was heard in this area. A nearby church actually was playing loud organ music, which came into this building, even though all doors and windows were closed. Because of the layout of the building, this music can easily make someone think that the music is coming from the building itself instead of outside.

Audio Clip - Animal Sound
Play Now
Investigation: Madison Barracks
Date: 4/3/09
Rank: 0.0 (Debunked)
Comments: This clip contains what we believe to be the sound of an animal. It is possible this animal is making squealing noises in a different audio spectrum than what our ears can hear as is evident from the unusually high pitch and tone. However, as the dilapidated building in which this clip was captured is subject to animals coming in and moving things around, it is a high likelihood that this is the case.
