Comments: The CT team traveled to a very historic bed and breakfast called Captain Grant's Inn. This Inn was actually built by a man named William Gonzales Grant in 1754 for his wife Mercy Adelaide Avery. However, Captain Grant died at sea leaving behind his wife and children. OVer time the home served in key American wars. During the revolutionary war the Inn served as a station for soldiers and during the civil war the Inn housed a number of slaves through the underground railroad. The house eventually became a bed and breakfast for tourists. Bearing all the original foundations and architecture, the Inn was renovated into a well preserved building of the past. Currently, there exists various paranormal claims in almost all areas of the Inn including female and children apparitions, objects moving, noises heard such as footsteps in the attic, etc.

The team brought on a fellow TAPS Family member team; Queen City Paranormal, in order to assist with this investigation. This doubled our size and scope of the case in order to cover the area better. After traveling through the Inn into each room, we noticed a few aspects that became apparent to us. First, many rooms contained an older heating system that would create a knocking sound after a while. This could easily lead someone not used to this believe the knocking may be paranormal. Additionally many shadows and lights poured into the Inn as its located on a smaller country road, but on a path to a major casino and other major highways. One particular room also had a distinct slant which could create a popular coined phrase "fun-house effect" whereby someone would feel uneasy or disoriented due to the angle in which it is on.

Even with these aspects known, the Inn did surprise us. During the investigation a vacuum cleaner was found in the middle of the kitchen. This was surprising as we did not believe this vacuum cleaner was left here, and no investigators were present in the kitchen. Unfortunately a DVR camera was not present in the kitchen, and this was not captured on video. However, we did have multiple audio's in which one picked up a faint sliding sound; possible that of a vacuum cleaner. We cannot label this as paranormal evidence however since the sound could have accounted for a number of things. Other audios did pick up additional unusual bangs and even a possible footstep(s) in the attic, which would directly support one of the Inn's claims. Of course, as with all other audio's that contain bangs, we cannot label this as strong paranormal correlation. Bangs, knocks, and other object oriented audio's are too commonplace to be considered paranormal, even if there is a chance they may be. Natural wood creaking, wind, and other factors could be causing this to occur.

Overall, the Inn contained a wealth of historical features and beautiful inner design architecture. The team was able to begin to find natural causes for some of the claims and even a bit of potentially paranormal ones as well. Even with the extra equipment, we still are left wondering what may still be going on at the Inn. We believe additional investigations at this site may yield even more data for us to gain a better understanding of the activity. As such, we leave the paranormal potential at a starting rate, which may increase if new data is discovered in the future.

Investigation - Return to Captain Grant Inn
Date: 3/19/10
Location: Preston CT
Evidence Found: None.
Comments: The CT Team traveled back to Captain Grant's Inn to either debunk or further enhance the current amount of paranormal data that we had. We were glad to learn that more renovation and construction was being done to the Inn. Renovations have been seen as a trend to kick up activity, whether natural or paranormal. Natural, by creating additional creaks and dust, and paranormal, by possible entities feeling displaced by their surroundings that are constantly changing.

While we were investigating, we quickly realized that the entire area had an entirely different atmosphere to it; a much quieter one. None of our original claims occurred during the case, which included possibly object movements and phantom footsteps. Our team did not pick anything up via audio or video on the case, and all EMF remained at constant normal levels. We did find one small possible cold spot that seemed to dissipate as quickly as it occurred, but it remained ambiguous.

Overall - The team did not find anything to support paranormal claims or debunk them for that matter. We heard reports of the case having more activity in the afternoon and daytime. While our infrared cameras are less useful during the daytime, many claims occur around objects being moved, so this would not affect the data.
